Ujjain Mahakal Trip: Family Trip Under ₹6500 – All Inclusive 😍

Visiting Ujjain Mahakal, Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is not just a trip — it feels like a spiritual calling. Many devotees believe that you cannot visit Mahakal until you are truly called. I had been planning my trip to Ujjain for many days, but somehow it never worked out.

Finally, on 26 March 2026, I booked tickets 10 days in advance and travelled with my family. This became one of our most peaceful and budget-friendly family trips.

Train Journey to Ujjain Mahakal

We travelled by Bikaner Bilaspur Express 20844 from Kuchaman City Railway Station to Ujjain Junction. The journey was comfortable, and we reached Ujjain excited for Mahakal darshan. As soon as we stepped out of the railway station, the first thing we noticed was the weather — it felt hotter than Rajasthan, where we live.

Outside the station, many auto drivers were calling passengers for temple and hotel drop. Most were charging ₹100-₹300 for nearby areas like Jhalariya Math Dharamshala. But then something interesting happened.

One auto driver was calling out: “Mandir ke liye sirf ₹20…”

I spoke with him, and he confirmed — ₹20 per person. We boarded the auto with luggage and started our hotel search.

Curious, I asked him why he was charging so low when others were asking ₹100-₹300.

He replied honestly:

“If I take you to hotels and you stay there, I get ₹60-₹70 commission. So ₹20-₹20 plus commission becomes enough for us.”

This was a very practical and honest conversation — and also helpful for travelers visiting Ujjain.

Searching Hotels Near Ujjain Mahakal Temple

The auto driver showed us 5-7 hotels, but some rooms were:

  • Too narrow
  • Very compact
  • Not comfortable for family stay

Since we were travelling with family, we wanted:

  • Clean rooms
  • Safe location
  • Comfortable stay
  • No regret after booking

The auto then dropped us near the temple area, which is just 2-3 minutes walking distance from Mahakal Temple. However, hotels near the temple were expensive — around ₹1500 to ₹2500. After checking 8-10 hotels, we still didn’t find a perfect option. After thinking for a few minutes, I decided not to compromise — especially because I was travelling with family. Finally, we booked Milan Holidays for ₹2000.

And honestly — this was our best decision.

Hotel Stay Near Mahakal Temple

The hotel offered:

✔️ Just 2 minutes walking distance from temple
✔️ Clean and hygienic rooms
✔️ Comfortable for family stay
✔️ Peaceful atmosphere

Once we checked in, we reached the temple gate within 2 minutes.

That convenience alone made the hotel worth it.

Mahakal Darshan Experience

At the temple entrance, Shighra Darshan tickets were available for ₹250. We decided to go with free darshan and surprisingly, there was very manageable crowd.

Within 10-15 minutes, we reached near the Garbh Griha and peacefully had about 1 minute of darshan. The experience was:

  • Peaceful
  • Calm
  • No rushing
  • Very satisfying

After darshan, we explored the temple corridor, took photos, and spent some quiet time.

The Most Peaceful Place in Ujjain

There is another place in Ujjain that gives immense peace. The Mahakal Corridor bridge area. The view here is amazing:

  • 360-degree view
  • Cool breeze
  • Flowing water
  • Beautiful lights
  • Ducks moving in water

We sat there quietly, feeling the energy of Ujjain. No hurry, no rush — just sitting and enjoying the moment. This became one of the most calming experiences of our trip.

Dinner and Night Stay

After exploring, we returned to the hotel and had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was Fresh, Tasty, Comfortable for family. We relaxed and prepared for next day temple visits.

Visit to Kal Bhairav Temple

Next morning, we woke up around 7:30 AM. Most hotels in Ujjain have 9 AM checkout, so we got ready quickly and hired an auto to visit: Kal Bhairav Temple. This temple is slightly far from Mahakal Temple. After standing in line for around 30 minutes, we completed darshan peacefully.

After darshan:

  • We had sugarcane juice
  • Explored nearby area
  • Returned to railway station

Return Journey

We boarded Bilaspur Bikaner Express 20845 at 11:55 AM on 27 March 2026 and returned to Kuchaman city.

Ujjain Family Trip Budget

Complete trip cost:

  • Train tickets
  • Hotel stay
  • Food
  • Auto travel
  • Temple prasad

Total Cost: Around ₹6500 and believe me For a family trip, this was very reasonable.

We:

  • Ate whatever we wanted

  • Travelled peacefully

Final Thoughts

Our Ujjain Mahakal trip was:

  • Peaceful
